Week 1 Day 3 - Our Meals to Date

Well we are nearly mid week of week 1 and the pantry and fridge have an abundance of food, I don’t feel like I have even touch the surface of the pantry content and believe this is due to the planning and food prep.

Both the risotto and curry chicken have been a dinner success with the kids. The lunch boxes have come home mainly empty which means despite not having packet snacks the homemade goodies (choc chip cookies and choc balls kept in freezer) are just as good.

The chai seed puddings I have been eating for breakfast are delicious and seeing I still have a quarter of a packet of chai seeds looks like Ill be having the same next week but with Almond milk.

Tonight we will had tacos and I’ll be making watermelon icy poles. Its crazy but I feel like there is more food in our house than before. The kids are also not pestering me for snacks all the time as there is fruit ready for the picking in the fridge.

I will say though my freezer is getting full of items which I intend to use later, bread crust and snacks I have frozen, which I guess is all good.

Our bins haven’t been emptied since Sunday and are only half full. The compost however is emptied daily which unfortunately means we are still wasting food.

The book Simpilous Flow by Sarah Wilson will be this weekends read ( I mean flick through, honestly I can’t remember even managing reading anything while my kids are around), for Inso on reducing food waste.
